Design Story of Trinity
We believe defining a problem that’s worth solving is just as important, if not more important than coming up with a good solution for it. After the pandemic, we observed a permanent shift to remote and hybrid work lifestyles. Our goal became clear: to help remote and hybrid workers overcome their daily challenges.
To understand these challenges, we conducted field research in places our target users frequently work—coffee shops, libraries, food courts—observing their behaviors and interviewing people who work from home.
We discovered that many users frequently change their work locations. However, different locations often lack sufficient desk space (imagine a small coffee shop table with a laptop and a cup of coffee). These users typically carry multiple accessories, like a foldable laptop stand and a laptop sleeve, which can make the space even more cluttered and become an eyesore when not in use. At home or the office, even more accessories, such as vertical stands or laptop risers, take up valuable space.
While these accessories are beneficial, they are also cumbersome to transport and switch between, not to mention the cost of purchasing multiple items. This led us to a pivotal question: What if we could design a laptop sleeve that always stays with the laptop and morphs to provide different functions according to the user's needs?
We envisioned a laptop sleeve that could help the laptop stand vertically when connecting to an external monitor or storing the laptop temporarily, improve ergonomics for typing and viewing, protect the laptop, and allow users to carry it easily on the move. The best part? The sleeve would always be in use, never needing to be put away and take up space.
Thus, the Trinity 5-in-1 Standing Laptop Sleeve was born—a multifunctional design combining the functionalities of a vertical stand, a 15-degree stand, a 30-degree stand, a laptop portfolio bag, and a laptop carrier. Despite its many functions, it maintains a clean and minimalist appearance.
It took a year of research and development along with many setbacks, and finally we are ready to introduce Trinity to the world.
